History

The Remnant Shop is a family run business now in its third generation. Founded in 1944, trading as ‘Dainty homes’, we sold all kinds of household textiles and rapidly expanded to retail carpets, bedding, window treatments plus dress fabrics and haberdashery. The Felixstowe store had well over 8000sq of sales area in 1970.

1981 the decision was taken to contract our product range, removing carpets and bedding. Accordingly ‘The Remnant Shop’ in Felixstowe was opened, and then in 1996 the Colchester branch was opened.
Since that time ‘The Remnant shop’ has reputedly become, one of the top three independent retailers of textiles and haberdashery in the U.K.
